华盛顿—几时年来,降低醉驾死亡人数的努力在美国造就了一个咒语:“让人醉驾的朋友不是真朋友。”上周以色列选举结束后,全世界的以色列朋友应该把这个咒语改一改:“让朋友盲目统治的不是真朋友。”

以色列的盲目完全是自找的。以色列政府无法用以色列的条件解决与巴勒斯坦人的冲突,于是干脆装作整个问题根本不存在的样子。令人震惊的是,当其总理内塔尼亚胡本月早些时候在美国国会发表演讲时,他39分钟时间大谈伊朗对以色列造成的生存威胁,根本没有提到巴勒斯坦人民。但是,在国内选战中,他只谈及某些巴勒斯坦人现在给以色列安全所造成的威胁,完全不提其他巴勒斯坦人为明天的和平所提供的机会。

以色列选民选择了恐惧的政治,而没有选可能性的政治。选择右翼还是中左翼是一个与选择枪炮还是黄油、选择安全还是繁荣相当的经典选择。
