中国打老虎

克莱蒙特,加利福尼亚—中国国家主席习近平所发起的反腐风暴实施了迄今为止最大的动作,宣布将开始对中共最高级官员之一周永康的“严重危机”进行正是调查。尽管关于周永康政治失势的传闻流传已近一年之久,但任何熟悉中国政治权谋的人都知道,在中共正式公布前,周永康的众多强力保护人和紧密盟友仍能够挽救他。现在,消息被正式公布了:一只“打老虎”被打倒了。但这真是中国真正需要的吗?

自2012年习近平开始提出“打老虎”以来,三十多名政府部长、省级官员和其他高官落马。但周永康不是一般的老虎。他是中共最高决策机构中央政治局的前常委,曾被认为拥有免罪金身。

自文化大革命以来,中共一直遵循一条不成文的规矩,政治局常委,不管在任还是退休,都可以获得刑事豁免权。当然,其中一些在政治斗争中遭到清洗,如20世纪80年代早期毛泽东的指定继承人华国锋。但即使在政治斗争中败北,仍可以静悄悄地退休,并且不会面临证实腐败指控。
