    毛泽东的巨像是否应该悬挂在天安门城楼上?中国的执政党是不是仍然应自称为“共产党”?这两问题完全不是无聊来问的。

直到一天中国领导人对于这两个问题直截了答“不”,这政党就一天没有把手上累积的血迹乾乾净净地洗去。这些血迹令到它在世界人民心中的认受性继续不能达到党魁的理想。许多中国人不接受共产党统治正因为共产党否认它的过去,并对他们的残暴历史毫无歉意。

    这也是中国有一个台湾“问题”的主要原因之一。中国共产党坚持说,作中国人就是要接受共产党专政的政治现实。许多台湾人认为,如果做中国人就表示要接受毛泽东和中国共产党名义下发生的一切的话,以其蒙受由此带来的耻辱,不如干脆就否定他们是“中国”人,就做“华”人罢了。
