Auf der Suche nach Nachwuchskräften

LONDON – Beim Thema Nachwuchskräfte sind sich Vorstandschefs einig: Obwohl es weltweit noch nie so viele qualifizierte und mobile Arbeitskräfte gegeben hat, ist es schwieriger als je zuvor die richtigen anzuwerben – und sie dahin zu bekommen, wo sie am meisten gebraucht werden.

Bei meinen Gesprächen mit Führungskräften auf aller Welt kommt diese Herausforderung immer wieder zur Sprache. Sie zählt ebenfalls zu den zentralen Erkenntnissen, zu denen die aktuelle Branchenauswertung von PricewaterhouseCoopers „Global CEO Survey“ gelangt ist. Über die Hälfte der von PwC befragten CEOs – und 62% in der Region Asien-Pazifik, der  Heimat des größten Arbeitskräftepotenzials weltweit und der am schnellsten wachsenden Volkswirtschaften – bestätigte, dass die vergebliche Suche nach Mitarbeitern mit Schlüsselqualifikationen ihr Wachstum gefährden könnte.

Der Grund sind ein chronisches Qualifikationsdefizit und ein Missverhältnis zwischen Angebot und Nachfrage. Der Aufstieg der Schwellenländer schafft Arbeitsplätze an Orten, an denen es schwierig ist geeignete Mitarbeiter zu finden. Der internationale und lokale Wettbewerb um Arbeitskräfte, die die richtigen Fähigkeiten besitzen verschärft sich zusehends. In alten Wirtschaftszweigen wie auch in neuen Branchen entstehen neuartige Arbeitsplätze, für die viele Hochschulabsolventen schlecht gerüstet sind. Die Nachfrage beschränkt sich dabei nicht allein auf technisches Know-how; Unternehmen sind auf der Suche nach internationaler Erfahrung, umfassender sozialer Kompetenz („Soft Skills“) und Anpassungsfähigkeit.
