新加坡—亚洲正站在历史的黄金机会点,三个人口最多的国家——中国、印度和印度尼西亚都由强大且有活力的改革派领导人领导。事实上,中国的习近平、印度的莫迪和印尼的“佐科维”佐科·维多多(以下称佐科维)都有望跻身各自国家最伟大现代领导人行列。

毛泽东在1949年统一了中国,而邓小平发动了前所未有的经济崛起。习近平要想和毛邓看齐,就必须建立以基于规则(rules-based)的现代中国。而这首先需要清除腐败的“大老虎”。

多年来,腐败已成为中国的顽疾,地方党政领导人和国有企业负责人利用巨大的特权和权威敛聚个人财富。这严重破坏了中国共产党的合法性,也妨碍了驱动中国经济迈入高收入行列所必须的基于市场的竞争。
