Jihad ou assassinat ?

Il est remarquable que les concepts les plus fondamentaux de la terminologie religieuse musulmane soient aujourd’hui devenus partie intégrante de la langue internationale de des actualités. Des questions issues de la théologie islamiste sont librement abordées par le public dans le monde entier, mobilisant spécialistes et profanes, musulmans et non musulmans. Le débat théologique s’est bien éloigné des académies religieuses de l’islam.

Le terme jihad, par exemple, habituellement traduit par guerre sainte, est devenu quasiment omniprésent. Elle fut conçue dans les premiers temps de l’histoire musulmane comme un moyen de répandre la parole de dieu et les érudits musulmans d’aujourd’hui distinguent deux sortes de jihad, l’une étant un combat personnel contre la tentation, l’autre un conflit physique contre tout agresseur menaçant la survie ou les droits fondamentaux de la communauté musulmane. Dans de telles circonstances, l’utilisation du terme par les fondamentalistes est largement rejetée. 

De nombreux chercheurs musulmans se sont élevés pour défier les terroristes qui défendent les attentats-suicides à la bombe ou les attaques contre des civils, à l’aide de longues citations tirées de siècles de jurisprudence religieuse. Cette approche, en elle-même, représente une expression valable de la conscience collective qui s’oppose aux terroristes.
