中国正在超越美国吗?

发自剑桥——21世纪的人们正见证着亚洲逐步夺回其历史上曾经在经济和人口方面所占据的地位。在1800年,亚洲的人口和生产总值分别占到了全球的1/2以上。但在100年后的1900年,亚洲的生产总值萎缩到仅占全世界的20%——这可不是因为什么天灾人祸,而是当时的工业革命已经使欧洲和北美两地摇身一变,成为了世界工厂。

亚洲的复苏发端于日本,随后延伸到韩国再到以新加坡和马来西亚为首的东南亚地区。如今这场复苏正聚焦于在中国并开始逐步影响到印度,在此过程中数亿人得以摆脱贫困。

但这一转变同样也引发了国家间实力对比发生变化的忧虑。在2010年,中国超越日本成为世界第二大经济体。事实上,高盛公司预计中国的经济总量将在2027年超越美国。
