ЙОХАННЕСБУРГ – Сегодня практически повсеместно признают экономический потенциал Африки ‑ и возможности бизнеса, которые идут вместе с ним. И хотя бедность и безработица все еще распространены здесь больше чем в других развивающихся странах, ускоряющийся экономический рост с 2000 года сделал Африку вторым самым быстрорастущим регионом в мире (после развивающихся стран Азии и наряду с Ближним Востоком).

В условиях быстрого экономического роста появились более обеспеченные потребители ‑ и наоборот: 45% от общего роста ВВП Африки в 2000-х годах (до начала финансового кризиса в 2008 году) было обеспечено связанными с потребителями отраслями экономики. Ожидается, что к 2020 году более половины домашних хозяйств Африки ‑ почти 130 миллионов ‑ будет иметь дискреционный доход для трат (или накопления), в сравнении с 85 миллионов сегодня.

Кроме того, Африка имеет самое быстрорастущее население в мире – и самое молодое, и более половины ‑ в возрасте до 20 лет, по сравнению с 28% в Китае.
