Una crescita più rapida attraverso una regolamentazione più forte

WASHINGTON, DC – Quando il primo ministro indiano, Narendra Modi, era in campagna elettorale, fece la promessa di migliorare il modo in cui governare il Paese. E si impegna in tal senso sin dal suo insediamento a maggio. Recentemente, ha dichiarato di voler incentivare la posizione dell’India nell’indagine “Doing Business” della Banca mondiale, che valuta il contesto normativo in 189 Paesi. L’obiettivo di Modi è di far salire l’India nella top 50 – un’ambizione coraggiosa data l’attuale 142a posizione del Paese.

Tagliare le lungaggini burocratiche potrebbe aiutare a favorire una cultura di imprenditorialità e dinamismo. Ma sarebbe altrettanto importante mettere in atto un’effettiva infrastruttura normativa ed attuativa, soprattutto nelle aree in cui i consumatori difficilmente riescono a comprendere il valore dei prodotti e i rischi da essi posti.

In tutti i Paesi – ma soprattutto nelle economie in via di sviluppo – un solido sistema normativo è cruciale per creare fiducia nel mercato. I consumatori devono sapere che il cibo che mangiano, le auto che guidano e le medicine che prendono sono sicure. La fiducia nei prodotti locali incentiva i consumi domestici e rende le esportazioni più allettanti nei mercati esteri.
