纽约——看待东中国海小岛引发军事局势紧张的方式之一是把近期事件解读为直截了当的强权政治。中国正在崛起、日本经济低迷、朝鲜半岛依然分裂。中国试图在该地区重建历史领导地位是很正常的事。但日本害怕未来沦为附庸也再自然不过(朝鲜人更习惯于在中国面前充当这样的角色)。

1945年后日本屈服于美国强权是一场灾难性战争的必然结果。多数日本人可以容忍。但他们却无法容忍屈服于中国。

但由于东亚政治仍高度王朝化,从身世领域解读同样可能取得良好的效果。日本首相安倍晋三是岸信介的孙子,岸信介曾是战时日本顶级的工业官僚。1945年岸信介以战犯身份被美国人囚禁,冷战开始后未经审判即被释放,并于1957年以保守党身份当选首相。
