伦敦—布达佩斯爆发街头示威反对加班新立法——该法案很快被称为“奴隶法”——这突显出中欧所出现的反自由民主的弱点。这部未经任何协商就出台的法律意在限制劳动力成本和流动性，让外国直接投资（FDI）——以及就业——留在匈牙利。它也有利于雇主，包括总理欧尔班周围的新政治精英。

There are valid issues with the democratic systems in Hungary, Poland, and in many different ways in all Western democracies. It is entirely unanswered what ' liberal ' means nowadays. I suspect that Hungarians, Poles and many, many others would consider more than 50% of the authors criteria of liberal as ' gaga '.

You have to have the courage to really examine the reality that is confronting the populations.

Examine Macron's real predicament, his people's real predicament. This issue is not a fight of liberal, or illiberal democracies, or autocratic governments.

What is really happening? You don't even touch on reality.

  The corporations NEED to contribute financially to effect the results "which requires investment in education and lifelong training, as well as" social infrastructure. Presently corporation are only DEPLETING labor in rotating "OPPORTUNITY ZONES" and leaving destruction to develop due to transporting cheap labor into prior vibrant socially developed communities.
  
  Turning humans into cattle to be effectively shipped to the latest depleted zone only creates a faster race to destruction.
  
  The fight is by the few against the many. Any, and every feedback mechanism is being used by the few to further attack, and actually impoverish the many. The few will have to acquiesce or embrace the insanity that they are creating.
  
  You are right that 'The divisive nature of Central Europe's quasi-authoritarian governments precludes consensus-building. The 'weakened academic freedom and independent institutions have NOT and WILL not respond with creative policy responses nor economic challenges because it is not financially rewarding to the members of academia nor any independent institutions.
  
  What happened in China during Mao and Chang will probably be the predictive outcome for academics. Unless, some of you have some real guts to make a stand some-day, rather than just accepting money during your lifetimes for fodder that pays for a while. Hey, some have followed the carrot their entire working career. Good going for them. They profited and supported themselves, however, they could. Who gives a flip about ethics, or right and wrong? No one can afford to.
  
  YOU, unfortunately, for those people demonstrating in the streets lately are a big contributor to the predicament that they are having to live with, and suffer. I don't mean you personally, but in the general sense. The operational processes that you are supporting do NOT support any community processes or systems. You are actually higher level profiteers of CORPORATISM as it destroys real cultural and social communities that took generations to develop, and survive after prior episodic warfare.
  
  Which warfare is the most tolerable, when and where, and how long? Who pays, and who profits? Sure not the unwitting peaceful demonstrators as exemplified most recently in France. They are going to have physical suffering, less income, emotional suffering, real losses. That is exactly the outcome that is profitable for the present CORPORATE advances. You make money, as you write about it. You make money while you pick and chose which "Corporate" group pays you your next dollar of income. You are not on the battle-front, unless the battle-front gets moved to your front or back streets. Academia supports the advance all the way forward. Is it good? I don't think so, obviously. There are better tactics.
  
  In the meantime, different people get to be amused or upset by the latest episode of the Marx Brothers. I'm one of those people, just throwing a few bits, to add to the fire of turmoil that a few are creating around the world.
  
  One minor detail to pay attention to are the following words:
  
  You cannot create GOODWILL, based on platforms of theft. Sorry. Does NOT work. Even AI can't make something BAD into GOOD.

The sovereignty of differing nations is not being acknowledged. The rights of citizens within a sovereign nation are not being acknowledged. Corporate interests are really trying to over-ride governmental processes within nations.

Corporate interest is NOT state interest. Corporations are not interested in providing funding nor developing infrastructure that affect citizens living and attempting to survive within their own national boundaries. The condemnation of human rights within a nation by corporate interest is not supporting legal social contracts of peoples worldwide.

Quit the pretense.

If these corporations, and people like you, really want to donate substantial funding to allow for development within communities for development of housing, transportation, water, sewer, education and social assimilation then let those corporation put their money where mouths are. Presently, not a one, has.

These people have rights. People like you are attempting to walk all over them, and slaughter not only them but everyone and anyone that gets in the "corporate"way.

You are not even addressing any aspect of "democracry" liberal or illiberal. You are only a mouthpiece for certain corporate interests. You are not coming from any position that even has any right to judge any of these people.

You should take a real hard and serious look at this link. Start probing where YOU are really coming from. YOU are not coming from any perspective of democratic, nor really fundamental and ethical action of any reasonable word. You need to really do some serious homework. You might want to really examine what sovereignty means. Johnstone is a good starting point.
