مواجهة المتعصبين في أوروبا

بروكسل ــ أتقن الساسة الأوروبيون فن التلويح بأصابعهم، ومؤخرا في وجه الرئيس التركي رجب طيب أردوغان، والرئيس الروسي فلاديمير بوتن، ورئيس الولايات المتحدة دونالد ترمب. ولكن من المحزن أن نفس الأمر لا يمكن أن يُقال عن قدرتنا على صياغة الحلول السياسية وتنفيذ السياسات المشتركة.

لقد زعزعت أزمة اللاجئين أركان أوروبا حتى الصميم، لأننا بدلا من تحمل المسؤولية الجماعية عن إدارة تدفقات المهاجرين واللاجئين إلى أوروبا، حولنا العبء في الأغلب إلى دول الخط الأمامي. وقد أفضى هذا إلى تأكل التضامن الأوروبي. وعلى نحو مماثل، خَلَّف عجزنا عن الاجتماع على كلمة سواء لوقف جرائم الحرب التي يرتكبها الرئيس السوري بشار الأسد ضد شعبه فراغا استغله بوتن وإيران.

كثيرا ما يصرخ القادة الأوروبيون من الخطوط الجانبية في حين كان من الواجب عليهم أن ينزلوا إلى الميدان للدفاع عن المصالح الأوروبية المشتركة. وكأن فشلنا في ضمان الاستقرار في جوارنا لم يكن كافيا، فإذا بنا نسمح أيضا للحركات اليمينية الشعبوية والقومية بالانطلاق داخل الاتحاد الأوروبي ذاته. وقد أنتجت هذه الحركات، التي رعتها روسيا بقوة ونشاط، زعماء سياسيين محليين يشبهون بوتن وأردوغان بدرجة مخيفة ــ ولكن غير مستغربة.
