香港的希望

伦敦—香港的民主运动令全世界仰慕。香港青年先锋的原则、体面和行为让人们对未来执掌这座伟大城市的新一代充满信心。尽管如此,应该开始让这场运动明智地结束了。

香港特首与示威者的对峙进行得越久,个体公民——以及香港本身——就越有可能被伤害。香港政府必须表现出一些政治家风度,所谓的“雨伞运动”(Umbrella Movement,占据道德高地而不希望失去公共支持——定会有所回馈。与政府的真正的、成功的对话不会要求示威者停止民主运动;而只是结束这场最终必将成功的运动的当前阶段。

香港特首梁振英及其政府尽管反对游行,但仍有很大的周旋空间。许多香港公民认为,中国政府的当前立场基于梁振英官员所递交的报告,这份报告标榜正确反映了宪政发展的本地协商的结果。
