一时间看似合理的解释很多。人们可以想象他在实践那句古老的格言,“亲近你的朋友,但更要亲近你的敌人”。弹指一挥间,奥巴马控制了克林顿的政治机器:包括网络、捐款人和选民。与此同时,他还化解了克林顿著名的极具腐蚀性的诽谤技巧和夸张的自我展示欲——正是这些特点致使阿尔·戈尔和比尔·克林顿在2000年总统大选中几乎一句话也不说。利用这次任命,奥巴马将炮口从自己身上移走——并让它们一致对外。这真是一项明智的对策。
