La Germania non è Volkswagen

MONACO – Lo scandalo Volkswagen ha sollevato diverse questioni sul modello di produzione tedesco. Se il successo dei veicoli diesel della casa automobilistica è attribuito in parte agli sforzi fraudolenti di nascondere la quantità di sostanze inquinanti che emettevano, simili rivelazioni da parte di altre società metteranno in discussione la trasformazione del paese da “Malato d’Europa” a colosso economico trainato dalle esportazioni?

Fortunatamente la risposta è quasi sempre no. Il vantaggio competitivo della Germania è legato alla struttura delle sue società e alla cultura nella quale operano piuttosto che allo scandalo delle emissioni diesel. La casa automobilistica leader della Germania rappresenta un’eccezione alle regole manifatturiere che hanno determinato il successo del paese, non un esempio.

In realtà, il successo della Germania viene citato di frequente come un modello che gli altri paesi dovrebbero imitare, ed è giusto così. Dall’inizio del secolo, il paese è diventato uno dei maggiori esportatori del mondo, superando tutti gli altri principali paesi europei. Dal 2000 al 2013, le esportazioni della Germania sono cresciute del 154%, rispetto al 127% della Spagna, 98% del Regno Unito, 79% della Francia e 72% dell’Italia.
