发自利伯维尔—当加蓬批准签署2015年巴黎气候协定之时,其真正的工作才刚刚开始。而主要的挑战在于一方面要想方设法保护本国自然环境并应对日益严重的气候危机,另一方面又不能限制民众的经济发展机会。如今时间已过去近四年,我们对自身所面临的危机也有了更深入的了解,也比以往任何时候都更加迫切地需要调和我们国家的发展与气候应对措施之间的关系。

像我们这样的发展中国家无法遵循西方经济体在过去一个半世纪中所采取的发展道路。我们知道快速工业化对全球气候和环境所造成的可怕后果,因此必须找到另一种方式去提高自身生活水平。

因此各发达经济体应当向发展中国家提供额外的技术和经济援助,毕竟这是我们对地球所负有的共同责任的代价。但是气候解决方案将不仅仅来自西方,包括加蓬在内的发展中国家也有机会去领导这一转变。
