25年前，前苏联帝国范围内首个独立的公民运动“团结工会”宣告成立，尽管它所产生的政治影响不可忽视，但“团结”从本质上看既非政治运动亦非工会组织。
首先，“团结”是对尊严的渴望。我们再也无法忍受无孔不入、无所不能的共产党爪牙，忍受不了他们对工作场所、居住社区、甚至是休闲地域的统治。作家、记者和艺术家再也无法忍受那种严厉的审查和监管。工厂的情况也同样糟糕，党内官僚想要无所不知，大权独揽。
任何公民运动、任何形式的任何活动都要在意识形态领域里接受检查和控制。如果谁胆敢反抗，必将受到秘密警察的“特殊照顾”。
