Die Finanzierung der Klimasicherheit

NEW YORK – Der Zweck des weltweiten Finanzsystems besteht darin, die Ersparnisse der Welt zu ihrer produktivsten Verwendung hin zu führen. Wenn das System richtig funktioniert, werden sie in Investitionen geleitet, die den Lebensstandard erhöhen. Wenn es, wie in den letzten Jahren, nicht funktioniert, fließen sie in Immobilienblasen und umweltschädliche Projekte, darunter solche, die den vom Menschen verursachten Klimawandel verstärken.

Das Jahr 2015 wird für die Bemühungen, ein globales Finanzsystem zu schaffen, das nicht zum Klimaruin, sondern zur Klimasicherheit beiträgt, ein Wendepunkt sein. Im Juli treffen sich die Regierungen aus aller Welt in Addis Abeba, um ein neues Rahmenwerk für das globale Finanzwesen aufzustellen.

Das Ziel des Treffens wird der Entwurf eines Finanzsystems sein, das nachhaltige Entwicklung fördert und damit ein Wirtschaftswachstum schafft, das sozial inklusiv und umweltfreundlich ist. Fünf Monate später in Paris werden die Regierungen ein neues globales Abkommen zur Kontrolle des vom Menschen ausgelösten Klimawandels unterzeichnen. Dies lässt Gelder in klimafreundliche Energien fließen und baut auf den Fortschritten auf, die bei den Verhandlungen in Lima, Peru Anfang dieses Monats erreicht wurden. Auch dort wird das Finanzwesen eine große Rolle spielen.
