今年是亚洲金融危机十周年。这场危机于1997年7月2日从泰国发端,分别于10月份和12月份蔓延到印尼和韩国。最终成为全球金融危机,俄国和拉美国家,例如巴西卷入其中,并且释放出了在随后几年中显现出来的力量。2001年的阿根廷可以被算做是受害者之一。

还有许多无辜的受害者,包括那些没有参与是危机根源的国际资本流动的国家。实际上,老挝成为受到打击最为严重的国家。尽管所有的危机最终都会结束,当时没有人知道随之而来的衰退和萧条的范围会有大,程度会有多深,历时会有多长。这是从大萧条以来最严重的全球危机。
