米德兰,德克萨斯州—自从开办了我本人的非营利组织以来,我对其他非营利组织的看法也有了改观。非营利组织的数量比我想象的要多得多。作为天使投资人,我通常并不参与其中。如今,我担心它们的效率实在太低。

在小镇之间穿行时,我所见到的许多企业——应该说是大部分——都属于大型连锁,签订了大量采购合同、有标准化的培训流程、始终如一的品质,以及(我认为具有)盈利能力。相反,非营利组织大多规模较小,通常由满怀激情但专业和管理技能欠缺的人运作。它们从奉献而不是效率中获益——这值得尊敬,但不容易规模化。

这是一个一般性的自助挑战,也是我本人的新企业——健康项目协调委员会(Health Initiative Coordinating Council,HICCup)所面临的的挑战。HICCup为五个竞争HICCup健康(而非医疗)最大进步奖的社区提供咨询。该奖项将根据五方面得分给出。
