الجوانب الجيوسياسية للتحديات البيئية

لندن- تعيش أجزاء كبيرة من العالم في حالة من التوتر فهناك علاقة الغرب بروسيا ومستقبل الناتو والحرب الأهلية السورية واللاجئين وتصاعد الشعبوية اليمينية وتأثير الأتمتة والخروج البريطاني القريب من الإتحاد الأوروبي. إن جميع تلك القضايا –وغيرها –قد أثرت سلبا على الجدل العام في العالم ولكن هناك قضية تعتبر أهم من كل تلك القضايا تتعرض للتجاهل أو التهميش وهي قضية البيئة.

لقد حصل ذلك خلال الإجتماع السنوي للمنتدى الإقتصادي العالمي في دافوس في سويسرا فما عدا الإشارة إلى إتفاقية باريس للمناخ من قبل الرئيس الصيني شي جينبينج فإن مواضيع مثل التغير المناخي والتنمية المستدامة لم يتم التطرق اليها في النقاشات الرئيسية وعوضا عن ذلك تم مناقشة تلك المواضيع في الإجتماعات الجانبية والتي كانت نادرا ما تتقاطع مع القضايا السياسية والإقتصادية الحالية.

إن السماح بتجاهل القضايا البيئية في مثل هذا الوقت الذي يتميز بإنعدام الإستقرار الجيوسياسي والإجتماعي هو خطأ وليس فقط لإن هذا يحدث في لحظة حاسمة في المعركة من أجل إدارة التغير المناخي. إن التدهور البيئي وتناقص الموارد الطبيعية تقوض القدرة على التعامل مع بعض من أكبر القضايا العالمية التي نواجهها.
