埃及要的是总统,不是法老

一场全国政治改革的热烈讨论正在埃及进行,核心事件是所有反对党和民间社团一致要求修改1971年宪法,取消1981年安瓦尔·萨达特遇刺后实行达23年之久的紧急状态。

这个要求早已不再新鲜,但从20世纪80年代中起就遭到胡斯尼·穆巴拉克总统和执政的民族民主党的重重阻挠。使这次改革呼声更为迫切的是埃及目前的困难状态,以及在地区和国际事务中的险恶环境。

在国内,对穆巴拉克年龄(76岁)和健康状况恶化的忧虑日益增长。近年来虽然一直谣传穆巴拉克的身体状况十分糟糕,但直到2003年11月再也无法隐瞒的时候官方才予以证实。在议会讲话时,穆巴拉克在成百上千万电视观众面前昏了过去。尽管他1小时后就恢复了知觉,并完成了那次讲话,埃及人还是开始要求对总统健康状况更多的知情权,其它国事领域也是如此。
