慕尼黑—如今,经济学的“吐槽点”可谓多矣。比如,经济学关注政治问题实在太少,而用数学折磨学生又是在太甚。但当前大量对经济学的批评却是建立在误解和无知的基础上。

以亚当·斯密的“看不见的手”的概念为例。这一概念认为市场均衡是有效的,如果竞争是完美的并且产权是明晰的话。与许多批评主张相反,主流经济学家并不假设这些理想条件总是成立。相反,经济学家一般将这些条件作为分析市场失灵的基准。他们就像是嗅探犬,寻找经济中的缺陷,并提出如何通过明智的政府干预纠正这些缺陷。

从这个角度看,经济学家就好比是医生,在能够诊断病情、开出治疗方案之前,他们必须知道健康的体魄是怎样的。好医生不会肆意干预身体过程,而只有在有客观证据证明存在疾病并且可以开出有效治疗方案的情况下才会干预。
