纽约—埃博拉危机再次提醒我们全球化的弊端。不仅好东西——如社会正义和性别平等原则——比以前更加容易跨国传播;环境问题和疾病等恶劣影响也是如此。

埃博拉危机还提醒我们政府和公民社会的重要性。我们不会转向私人部门以求控制埃博拉这样的疾病的传播。反之,我们会转向美国疾病控制和预防中心(Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,CDC)、世界卫生组织(WHO)和无国界医生(Médecins Sans Frontières,该组织的医生和护士们以身犯险拯救全世界贫穷国家的人)等机构。
