东亚民族主义者的梦想岛

发自东京——中国东海上那几个位于日本冲绳和台湾之间的无人岩礁,还有日本海上的几个小岛——上面象征性地居住着一些渔民和若干韩国海岸警卫队官员——看起来并无太多相似之处。前者——日本称之为尖阁列岛,中国称之为钓鱼岛——同时被中国,日本和台湾宣称对其拥有主权;而后者——日本称之为竹岛,韩国称之为独岛——的主权则被韩国和日本两家争持不下。

这些微型岛屿没有什么物质价值,但由其所有权导致的纠纷已经引发了国际争端。各国大使都被召回。中国到处都有反日示威活动——这些示威活动给日本人及其财产带来了损害。东京和首尔之间不断相互威胁,甚至扬言要采取军事行动。

但历史的真相其实相当简单。在中日甲午战争(1895)和吞并朝鲜(1905)之后,日本把这些岛屿据为已有——并视之为帝国扩张大业的一部分。而在此之前这些岛屿的主权归属并不清晰:竹岛/独岛上住着一些日本渔夫;当时的中华帝国对尖阁列岛/钓鱼岛只有一点模糊的概念。没有一个国家对这些岛屿有过正式的主权声明。
