对全球健康事业的国际支持是投资于发展中国家的未来繁荣和民众福祉。这样的投资全球富裕国家完全能够承担得起。

比方说,美国是全球健康援助资金的主要赞助国,2013年上述投资在美国总支出中仅占0.23%的份额。但投资回报却令人叹为观止。儿童死亡率大幅下降。数百万得不到救治将死于艾滋病毒/艾滋病的患者生命依然在延续。受援国越来越能实现自给自足——并有能力开展更好的贸易和战略合作。
