中国的西方价值观之战

克莱蒙特—这些天关于中国的消息大多令人沮丧,因为政府在加紧对批评者的镇压。但绝大部分观察者——特别是经济分析家——没有注意到的是中国领导层对自由主义或“西方价值观”的战争直接影响着其根除腐败、促进创新和企业家精神以及更深地融入外部世界的努力。中共政权的政治倒退对中国的后续经济发展将产生严重后果。

首先,政府加紧了互联网审查,热门门户和网站——包括谷歌、Facebook和《纽约时报》——都上不去。此外,著名人权律师遭遇监禁,著名的言论自由支持者浦志强就是其中之一,目前他已被关押超过半年,检方正在罗织罪名。

与此同时,中国高级官员开始在中共内部执行政治纪律。去年6月,中纪委驻中国社科院纪检组组长张英伟说,社科院——中国最著名的官办智库——“接受境外势力点对点的渗透”,以及“每逢敏感时期,进行不法的勾连活动”。
