圣地亚哥——2010年是智利独立二百周年庆。全世界的198个国家中,只有20个已经独立了如此之久。 因此,智利人现在应该审视自己的历史,扪心自问一个简单但意义深远的问题: 我们的所作所为究竟是对是错?

如果与其他拉美国家横向比较,我们的成绩实际是相当不错的,特别是在过去的25年中,我们从南美大陆最贫穷的国家之一一跃成为该区域人均收入最高的国家。 但如果与独特的发达国家集团相比,现实情况是需要我们学习的东西仍有很多。

智利二百周年庆一代所面临的伟大目标、庄严使命和全局挑战只有一个: 那就是让智利在这个十年结束前成为拉美第一个可以谦卑而不无骄傲地宣称已经战胜贫困、跻身发达国家行列、并能为后代子孙提供物质和精神进步的切实机会的国家。
