法国的孩子们

在法国人选举萨科奇作为他们的新总统、现在又让他的政治伙伴在议会取得领导地位的过程中,有一个令人费解的特点通常会被大家忽视,即个人乐观主义和公众悲观主义相互融合。

考虑一下这种情况。法国有着欧盟中最高的人口出生率(每个妇女有差不多两个孩子),甚至比人口激增的爱尔兰还要高。当然,仅靠这个比率并不足以支撑法国目前的人口,但是它远比欧洲邻国高,几乎与美国持平。然而尽管如此,欧洲晴雨表民意测验还是一再显示,在国家未来问题上,法国人是全欧洲最悲观的。为什么会出现人们在对他们作为一个国家的共同未来如此悲观的同时却又对在他们的家庭内部建立他们自己的未来如此充满信心的情况呢?
