今年7月,来自世界各地的30位人士聚集在日内瓦的国际电信联盟总部,讨论互联网宽带如何能使我们的世界变得更好。会议参加人员包括各国的政府部长、官员、技术人员及战略思想家,我也是与会一员。主持会议的是“宽带委员会”主席卢旺达总统卡加梅和墨西哥电信大亨卡洛斯•斯利姆。

“宽带委员会”由国际电信联盟(ITU)和联合国教科文组织(UNESCO)共同成立,委员会的联合主席制不是偶然形成,因为联合国意识到,要进一步推进信息革命的发展,需要政府及私营部门的共同努力。如国际电信联盟秘书长哈马德•图埃所说,“在21世纪,即经济又普及的互联网宽带网络将和交通、供水及电力网络一样,对社会发展和经济繁荣起到关键的作用。”
