纽约——世界各地的政界人士在讲述全球变暖的故事时,把全球变暖描绘成人类最严峻的挑战。不过他们承诺能以较低成本加以应对,同时从无数其他方面改善世界各地的局面。我们现在知道这纯属无稽之谈。

从美国国务卿克里到联合国秘书长潘基文这样的重量级政界人士均称气候变化是“我们这代人最严峻的挑战”。克里称如果解决不了这一问题,人类将会付出灾难性的代价。事实上,从2006年由英国政府委托撰写的所谓斯特恩报告出炉后,这已经成为政要们的标准说法。

斯特恩报告尽人皆知的断言全球变暖引发的损失将占GDP的5-20%,并称这是“与大规模战争和二十世纪上半叶经济衰退规模类似”的重大破坏。
