生物燃料时代的粮食

但这是错误的两分法。不存在粮食和燃料之间的选择。我们可以鱼和熊掌兼得。只要有正确的条件,生物燃料可以为贫困农民提供可持续的廉价能源资源,从而成为增进粮食安全的有效办法。

在一些非洲内陆国家,汽油成本是全球平均水平的三倍,这导致燃料价格成为农业增长的主要瓶颈。扩大生物燃料在这些地区的使用能够提振生产率、创造新的就业机会,特别是在农村地区。如果生物燃料所带来的原料需求增加可以通过家庭农庄和小规模生产商满足,效果将会更好。
