身居高位的亚洲女性

发自纽约——印度的英吉拉·甘地,斯里兰卡的班达拉奈克夫人,巴基斯坦的贝·布托,菲律宾的阿基诺夫人以及印尼的梅加瓦蒂——这些女性领袖在过去四十年内的大部分时间统治着南亚和东南亚地区。她们的父亲或者丈夫都曾是其所在国的创建者或者长期领导者,而当这种类似王朝传宗继位的联系将她们送上政治舞台时,支撑她们掌权的却不但是这一个因素。

在第一次当选时,这些女性中无一人拥有任何过硬的专业或者政治资历。对于其中一些女性来说,这个“短板”可以被视为优点,使她们可以在自己丈夫或父亲曾经的位置上塑造一个清白而纯洁,甚至是殉道者的形象。(至少在第一个任期内)也没有一位女性特别关注与妇女有关的议程,而研究证实农村妇女的地位在她们治下也缺乏改善。

但2011年的亚洲却涌现了一些完全不同的事物。虽然仍有一些女性领导人是在某种程度上利用家族影响力登台,但她们如今却开始更自信地将妇女事务直接列为自身政治议程的核心。而或许更重要的是,有越来越多的女性凭借着自己的政治天赋跻身各国政治高层。
