剑桥——东亚海域会不会爆发战争?在中日民族主义者针锋相对地占领中国称为钓鱼岛而日本称为尖阁列岛的不毛之地后,中国西南城市成都的示威者愤怒地高呼:“杀光所有日本人。”

同样,中菲船只在南海斯卡伯勒礁(黄岩岛)的对峙引发了马尼拉的抗议风潮。韩国总统对韩国称为独岛、日本称为竹岛、而美国称为利扬库尔岩的荒芜岛礁的访问粉碎了韩日深化合作的希望。

但对局势的危险性也不应过分夸张。美国已经宣布《美日安保条约》涵盖尖阁列岛(1972年归还日本后由冲绳县负责管辖)。与此同时,斯卡伯勒礁的对峙也已经渐趋平静,而且虽然日本在独岛事件后召回了驻韩国大使,但两国开战的可能性不大。
