亚洲的紧缩教训

发自纽黑文——对紧缩政策的讨论已成为本年度达沃斯世界经济论坛的热门话题。其中缘由不言自明:这边美国的复苏才刚有一点苗头,那边欧洲又开始重新滑向衰退。这种局面对于整个财政巩固进程来说堪称一大祸害——而该进程又是欧洲最为钟爱的。

但笔者却得出了一个与达沃斯不同的结论。在本次论坛中本人负责主持一个名为“东亚新语境”的议程,期间来自泰国、韩国、马来西亚,新加坡和日本的高级代表都发表了演讲——除了日本代表外的所有人都拥有应对1990年代末期灾难性亚洲金融危机的第一手经验。

作为主持人,笔者忍不住也把他们拉进了上面那场美欧之间的辩论。但我并没有让与会者们去推导紧缩政策将对这些过度负债的西方发达国家造成何种影响,而是询问他们在1990年代末经济危机期间和之后的经历。
