去年,联合国安理会五个常任理事国的国家领导人都访问了印度,陪同他们出访的都有一个由商界领袖们组成的代表团。印度的经济一直在以8%以上的速度增长,使它对贸易和投资都越来越具有吸引力。美国总统奥巴马十一月来访时,他表示支持印度成为联合国安理会的常任理事国。英国首相卡梅伦是如此,法国总统萨科齐和俄罗斯总统梅德韦杰夫态度亦然。中国总理温家宝是最后的到访者,但他对此问题没有发表任何评论。

官方声明强调了中印间的友好关系,而且某些经济分析人士认为,这两个迅速增长的经济巨人将会融合为一个经济上的“中印大同”。当温家宝前几年访问印度时,他签署了一项为期五年的全面战略合作协议。正如印度总理辛格当时所言:“印度和中国可以携手重塑世界秩序。”
