华盛顿——中国政府正严厉打击西方记者。为报复纽约时报彭博社记者对中国高官贪腐行为的报道,中国政府威胁不再为他们续签签证。泰晤士报专栏作家托马斯·弗里德曼不久前写了一封公开信致中国政府,指出因为“贪婪腐败是历史上中国政权灭亡的首要原因”,新闻自由更能帮助而不是伤害中国政府。

相信新闻自由和言论自由同属普世人权的人都会赞同弗里德曼的立场。但中国政治——包括权利政治,总是掺杂着经济因素。

上个月,习近平在中央委员会十一届三中全会上宣布了全套改革措施,提出了“实现中华民族伟大复兴” 的目标。他的60点计划包括落实制定存贷款市场利率的财政政策及财政部门改革,允许私营投资者参与国有企业、活跃中小企业、放宽劳动力限制以及征收房产税增加地方政府收入。
