北京——自从不久前启用以后,伦敦希斯罗机场5号航站楼就与失败结下了不解之缘。而在地球的另一端,比伦敦5号航站楼早一天全面启用的北京3号航站楼,运营情况几乎完美无瑕。不出所料,媒体对伦敦T5航站楼的失败大书特书,似乎已经无暇顾及北京T3航站楼的巨大成功。

无论以何种标准来衡量,北京T3航站楼与伦敦T5相比都有过之而无不及。伦敦T5每小时包裹处理能力可达12,000件(如果T5还能够处理包裹的话),每年旅客吞吐量可达3000万人,而北京T3每小时包裹处理能力达到20,000件,旅客吞吐能力达到5000万人。伦敦T5主要为英航提供服务,而北京T3除了中国国航之外,还服务于其他二十几家航空公司。

北京T3总面积达100万平米,为世界上最大的航站楼,但是建筑费用却远低于伦敦T5。如果以最新汇率折算, 北京T3的总费用只有38.6亿美元,而伦敦T5却高达86亿美元之巨。不仅如此,北京T3从开工到完成只用了不到4年时间,而伦敦T5则耗用了几乎20年之久。
