上一次在政策发生如此大的转变之后进行大选是1980年,当时里根总统大刀阔斧地改革了税收、支出和监管政策,并支持美联储的反通胀立场。1988、1992和2000年的选举也发生在政策转向之后,但转向之彻底远远不能和1980和2008年相提并论。
