再现新唐朝?

2008年8月8日,北京奥运会开幕式令人叹为观止的表演令全世界肃然起敬。我们看到了写满历史符号的中国式电子画卷徐徐开启,将自己身体用作水墨书写“和”字的舞者令我们目眩神迷。2008位武术学生以机械般精准的形体动作表演千年传承的技艺,而空中飞翔的天体和地上飞跑的火炬手在地球上营造出天宫一般的神奇。

中国还有一次在家门口令世人感到目眩神迷:那就是618-907年的唐王朝,被世人普遍看成是中国的黄金时期,当时中国名副其实地处在宇宙核心“中央王国”的位置。唐朝的都城长安(也就是现在的西安)是一座世界级城市,访问者来自世界各地,都被长安的财富、美丽和无上的权力弄得目眩神迷。唐朝的皇帝用惯了来自波斯的银器、欧洲的玻璃、中亚的宝石和印度的金器。开放、自信而且见多识广,中国轻而易举地与世界接轨,从中汲取新鲜的想法,并融入到土生土长的创意中去。难怪研究中国的学者有时把现代中国称为新唐朝。

事实上,当中国在2001年赢得奥运会的主办权后,中国的官方新闻机构新华社就称之为“标志中国国际地位崛起和中华民族复兴的里程碑式的历史事件。”7年来,中国的官员和艺术家们孜孜不倦地将这个复兴梦想变为亮晶晶的现实,他们超越了所有人的预期。但我们应该怎样理解开幕式对于中国和外部世界更深层次的意义?
