崭新的科学

今年夏天,一次不同寻常的科学家大会在巴黎召开,来自世界各地的科学家们汇聚一堂,共同探讨创立新科学的必要性,他们所讨论的新科学也许会像一个世纪前爱因斯坦的发现那样为人类带来革命性的突破。

多数科学家认为基本的科学定律都已经为人类知晓。而谈到大的挑战,传统的观念认为我们尚未发现的事物已经寥寥。仅剩的问题可以分为三类:“重要的科学难题”(比如重力学和电学的统一),这类研究不仅需要巨大的投资,也离不开一流的科研设备;“资料收集”,是与考古发掘和生物/基因调查相关的实际工作;以及“科学信息问题”,比如应对艾滋病或者全球变暖。

除此之外,很多人认为如何利用现有法则使人类从全新的技术中获益是目前仅剩的艰苦工作。谁能提出不同意见呢?归根结底,今天的模式是成功的。
