    布拉格--当捷克准备接手成为欧盟轮值主席国的时候,有些欧洲人议论我国。我听到他们言论好像是张伯伦对捷克斯洛伐克声名狼藉评论的回音,那也就是,我们是“一个很少听说的穷乡僻壤国家”。几年前,拉姆斯菲尔德想要把欧洲分出“新欧洲”和“老欧洲”实为不智,但是他的这一言论确重新体现了这一令人厌恶态度。

    实际上,世上根本就没有什么“新欧洲”和“老欧洲”,历史上从来就没有这回事。欧洲重新统一并且与共产主义决裂目前已经将近二十年时间。我们捷克人是100%的欧洲人,而且在铁幕把我们从民主欧洲分裂的时代更为如此。确实,随着加入欧盟以及刚刚获得自由,我们的亲欧盟情感更为强烈。

    所以,欧洲没有必要担心捷克共和国有什么怀旧或者怪异的议程来施加在欧盟头上。相反,国际大事确给欧洲施加了我们所无法逃避的议程。对此,我们需要真正的欧洲团结。
