Did They “Do it”?

In the years since German Chancellor Angela Merkel's famous declaration that "We can do it" (“Wir schaffen das”), the refugee crisis has largely dropped out of Western headlines, owing to various ad hoc measures to divert or block refugees from reaching Northern Europe. But without a more comprehensive solution, the problem will not go away, and could even return with a vengeance.
