  • Climate Change by the Numbers

Weather models are tested for accuracy in various ways, both by attempting to track past weather and actually predicting future weather.

Weather is a physical system and is probably simpler to model in some fundamental way, because it is not driven by human agents, which are highly complex.

Anyway, this is the best science we've got. What have you got that's better?

  • Transatlantic Trade’s Transformative Potential

Agree with the analysis that the move is essentially China-facing. The Partnership would underpin NATO with broader and tighter financial integration. It has all the hallmarks of high-level strategic castling against the inevitable consolidation of China's area of influence.

Popular politics should not stand in the way, as "Trade and Investment" are financial in nature. The Partnership may not need to reach across the Atlantic divide over unions, agriculture and socialism/capitalism. This isnt really a "free trade" agreement.

Still a very good and natural idea.

The question is: when US/EU and CHina consolidate their trade systems, where will Russia and the Arabs go? Is there space for an intermediary or will they have to make a decision to stand with one camp or another?

  • The Arab Revolutions’ Reality Check

The political order of the Middle East and the Maghreb was a remnant of the Cold War. Unlike in Eastern Europe, no one was ready willing and able to reorganize the sickly societies. So they are left to die and rot, to compost until they become fertile grounds for some type of growth. It may be spring but the soil is not ready.

  • The Coming Atlantic Century

There has been lots of cheerleading by the Syndicate recently. First the rise of the robots, now this. Its like our public intellectuals are not the drivers of our destiny but just the headlights illuminating the next few yards of the road.

  • The Rise of the Robots

Brilliant. I would not mind spending more time with my kids, so that they grow up more intelligent, creative and productive than the public education warehouse will make them.

The freed up time should be dedicated to production of knowledge. We then can create efficient interstellar travel. THEN there will be enough planets for everyone to get work again... and the cycle continues.
