I'm managing partner with L'Aventure Properties. My undergraduate interests while at Berkeley & Irvine in the early '70s were conceptual art & analytic philosophy, and at Berkeley in the mid '80s my graduate focus was AI approaches to information retrieval. I abandoned my academic project, 'A neopragmatic semantics for an international hypermedia information utility', in 1990, after a cheaper foreign import became available.

  • What Use Are Economists?

As someone concerned with both the logic and utility of knowledge representation in AI, Dani's characterization of 'achievement'in professional economics in his last paragraph rings true, but must be over-generalized. For all the nit-wits in Chicago (Glen Weyl excepted), there is a Jeff Sachs who at least knows about the human terrain beneath the cute map with the late-capitalist legend.

  • America’s Healthy Path to Fiscal Health

It is this sort of mincing policy-speak that never proves accurate, the accumulation of which will lead to to the inevitable health crisis by taking up the space essential for honest, practical planning. It is a insult to any serious conceptual framework beyond arithmetic, and an abuse of that. In coming decades, underground railroads will import pharmaceuticals and quality consumer-driven but illegal international telemedicine will compensate for the incompetence of the practitioners of 'the art of the possible'.
