لقد أذهلتنا وأصابتنا بالصدمة تلك التقارير الواردة بشأن الأعمال الموجهة ضد الطوائف العرقية الجورجية في روسيا. وتتضمن هذه التقارير أخباراً نشرت في وسائل الإعلام الدولية عن الطلب الذي تقدمت به شرطة موسكو إلى المدارس بإعداد قوائم بطلابها الذين يحملون أسماء عائلات جورجية في إطار البحث عن مهاجرين مقيمين بصورة غير قانونية. فضلاً عن الأخبار المؤكدة عن إغلاق المنشآت التجارية المنتمية إلى مواطنين من جورجيا في روسيا. ونظراً لإدراكنا لأهمية التحويلات النقدية إلى الأسر الفقيرة في جورجيا، فقد انزعجنا إلى حد كبير حين اطلعنا على تقارير تؤكد اتخاذ إجراءات لمنع التحويلات البنكية.
