The Editors' Forum is the intellectual centerpiece of the
meeting of Project Syndicate which brings together the editors
of the member papers and statesmen, policy- makers, scholars, intellectuals,
artists, and members of the business community to discuss some of the most
important issues of the time.
Project Syndicate held its sixth plenary gathering of member editors in Vienna over the weekend of December 6-8, 2002. Once again the meeting was organized and sponsored jointly with Vienna's Institute for Human Sciences.
Panelists included: Austrian Chancellor Wolfgang Schussel, Nobel laureate Joseph Stiglitz, Polish Central Bank President Leszek Balcerowicz, former Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Juliya Tymoshenko, former British Home Office Minister Michael Howard, UN High Commissioner for Refugees Ruud Lubbers, Professor of European Thought at the LSE John Gray, and Princeton University Provost Amy Gutman, EU Commission foreign affairs advisor Robert Cooper, former Polish Foreign Minister Bronislaw Geremek, French Minister for Europe Noelle Lenoir, and Lord Ralf Dahrendorf. Keynote addresses were given to the assembled editors by EU Commission President Romano Prodi and the President of Poland, Aleksander Kwasniewski.
